Аннотація: The article analyzes and investigates the state and problems of applying the discount rate as a tool of monetary policy and the effectiveness of its application in the financial crisis. Its place among other instruments of monetary regulation is determined. The dynamics of changes in the main indicators of Ukraine`s monetary policy in recent years has been studied. The main ways and directions of development of monetary policy for the future are established. The advantages of applying the discount rate and its disadvantages in conditions of financial instability are substantiated.
